As a Certified Behavior Consultant, I am part of an elite group of professionals. There are only about 200 certified behavior consultants in the US certified by the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (www.iaabc.org) and I am 1 of only 4 certified in the state of Wisconsin. I’m also a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CCPDT) with over 2 decades of experience.

I do live private training lessons to address training issues, raise a great puppy, help with crate training, jumping, teach your dog to calm/relax or build a better bond and relationship with your dog.  I also do remote/phone consultations for housetraining problems in dogs.

The majority of my work is in the area of behavior. I do behavior consultations/assessments for more severe behavior problems in dogs such as dog/dog aggression, leash reactivity, fear, anxiety and human directed aggression.  The consultation will provide a framework for management, discuss next steps/options, assess for risks, and provide additional reading and resources for dogs exhibiting more severe issues. With severe behavior issues, there will often be multiple sessions.

I have worked with many area veterinarians and am well known and respected for my work with canine behavior and aggression.

Frequently Asked Questions

What training methods do you utilize?

As an Associated Certified Behavior Consultant (www.iaabc.org) and Certified Professional Dog Trainer (www.ccpdt.org), I follow the science of dog behavior/ethology. As a force-free trainer that follows the science of training and must keep up to date on the latest studies, I do not utilize shock collars or aversive training methods to “correct” the dog but instead utilize positive, force-free training that is backed by science on how canines learn. Are sessions guaranteed and behaviors “fixed”?

There is no guarantee that behavior will be “cured”. We manage the environment, lower anxiety and help the dog make better choices and change how the dog feels emotionally.

Why are your rates higher than some professionals?

As a Certified Behavior Consultant, I am part of an elite group of professionals. There are only about 200 certified behavior consultants in the US certified by the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (www.iaabc.org) and I am 1 of only 4 certified in the state of Wisconsin. This certification included hundreds of hours of behavior counseling and seminars. I am also a Certified Dog Trainer. I have been training for almost 2 decades. I have also fostered dogs for over 20 years and am work in training and behavior at a local shelter. I work with challenging dogs, high energy dogs and shy/fearful dogs. I have been voted Milwaukee’s Top Trainer and am an assessor/evaluator of therapy dogs through the following organization – The Alliance of Therapy Dogs organization. I serve as a the Wisconsin representative with Whippet Rescue and Placement and the Italian Greyhound Club of America Rescue.

Why is most of your work done via email?

This allows me to most efficiently help my clients.  Phone and text options are available for my current clients.

Will I need more than one session?

With behavior issues, more than one session is almost always needed. We all would like to “fix” behavior (human or dogs) in 2-3 sessions but it doesn’t happen. It can take weeks or months of DAILY behavior modification and response prevention to teach the dog more appropriate behaviors and there will almost always be some “management” for life. The age of the dog, the age of onset, the severity of the behavior, the number of behavior issues, how long the behavior has gone on all impact the amount of time and work needed with behavior cases as well as the success. I would love to solve a well-ingrained problem or fear (most aggression is fear and anxiety based) in one or two easy sessions but that is just not realistic. That said I have many clients with great success in working with their dogs so it can be done.
